Dear PVSD Families and School Community,
We are excited to share our new and improved 2026–2027 PVSD Student & Family Handbook! The link is attached below.
https://www.pvs.k12.nm.us/o/pvsd/page/district-handbooks
This year's handbook has been thoughtfully redesigned to make important information easier for students and families to find, understand, and access. It also reflects our ongoing work to create consistent, streamlined K–12 systems and expectations across all Pojoaque Valley Schools.
The handbook provides helpful information regarding school procedures, student expectations, attendance, academics, safety, student services, activities, and other important topics. All information and expectations in the handbook align with PVSD Board of Education policies and are intended to provide students and families with a clear and consistent resource throughout the school year.
We encourage all families and students to take some time to review the handbook together and become familiar with the information and expectations that apply throughout our district.
Our goal is to ensure that every PVSD student and family is informed, supported, and connected to their school. We hope you find the new handbook a helpful, easy-to-use resource throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an important part of the PVSD community. We look forward to a wonderful school year!

Community Update – Air Quality & Frijoles Fire Response
Pojoaque Valley Schools continues to closely monitor conditions related to the Frijoles Fire.
Air Quality:
Today. we monitored the air quality index and it remained at an index that did not require us to move recess, activities, or athletics indoors. We will continue to monitor air quality and make adjustments to outdoor activities if conditions change throughout the week. The health and safety of our students and staff remain our highest priority.
Emergency Response:
We have been notified by the Santa Fe County Office of Emergency Management that evacuations are beginning for Cundiyó, Truchas, and Cordova. Residents along Camino del Cañon in Cundiyo should evacuate immediately. Cundiyo and Cerro Piñon are now under "Set" status, and Cordova in Rio Arriba County is under "Ready" status. Pojoaque Valley Middle School's gym and auditorium are being prepared as potential staging locations for the American Red Cross to support displaced families if needed.
Our district Operations Team is working closely with emergency officials to provide assistance and ensure our community has the support it needs during this challenging time.
We will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available. Please keep all those affected by the fire, including first responders and evacuated families, in your thoughts.
💚 Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to keep our community informed and safe.

Welcome back, Pojoaque Valley Schools! 🍎📚
Today we kicked off the 2026–2027 school year, and it was wonderful to see our students, staff, and families back on our campuses. Wishing everyone a year filled with learning, growth, joy, and success. Let’s make it a great year!

📢 Please see the flyer below for important information!

Please be advised that the south entrance at Pojoaque Valley Middle School will be closed to all traffic due to PBRWS construction. During this time, all traffic will be detoured to the north entrance of the school. We encourage parents, staff, students, and visitors to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and use caution in the area.

Our instructional staff learned about our district's vision for next year from Superintendent Segura, as well as how to think about enhancing the student learning experience with a focus on executive functioning, from internationally recognized guest presenter, Mitch Weathers.

Today we kicked off our school year with our Second Annual Superintendent's 1-Mile Run/Walk on our awesome new track! It was a beautiful morning with positive energy, music 🎶, laughter, and fun. Staff pushed themselves, and each other, to cross that finish line! Congratulations to our 1st 🥇, 2nd 🥈, and 3rd 🥉 place winners!

Today we celebrated our staff and the important work milestones they have achieved! They received their recognition pins for their commitment to our district and students. Go Elks! 🤍💚💪🏼🦌
