Superintendent of Schools
Happy New Year to our beautiful Pojoaque Valley Community!
We are so happy to be back working hard to serve our students and have many exciting plans and initiatives planned for this semester. We are grateful to work in a school district that honors teacher's voices, strives to deliver responsive leadership to our school community, and addresses whole child development.
January is the month in which we observe Human Trafficking Awareness, Braille Literacy, and Blood Donorship, and celebrate Menudo! Please note that PVHS will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on the 14th; please see the attached flyer to sign up!
Our staff recently received professional development in trauma-informed and culturally humiliative teaching to support all our learners. We are excited to announce the Native Heritage Garden Project to offer hands-on horticultural learning to our students, centered on Indigenous vegetables of the region. This project is in collaboration with our efforts to improve our breakfast and lunch menus to reflect more culturally specific offerings. And speaking of culture, we want to celebrate our elders! We are working to establish a multi-generational literacy project to improve reading scores while utilizing the cultural wealth of our senior community. Be sure to mark your calendars for March 18th-21st when we celebrate Grandparents Week at all our schools! Lastly, our big CTE (Career Technical Education) project is underway for next year as we work to offer a variety of training programs to support our student’s interests and improve our northern NM workforce!
There is much going on at the Pojoaque Valley Schools as we adopt a community-schools model and continue to prioritize student, teacher and community voice. We thank you for entrusting your precious children to us and will continue to work diligently to support all our learners in the New Year!

Appreciatively,
