📣 PVSD 2026–2027 District Calendar Approved!

The Pojoaque Valley School District Board of Education has officially adopted the 2026–2027 school calendar, which includes our transition to a four-day school week beginning next school year.

This decision followed months of research, planning, and community engagement including more than 1,300 survey responses from students, staff, families, and community members. Thank you for making your voices heard!

Our goal throughout this process was clear:
âś… Minimize instructional disruption

âś… Improve student and staff attendance

âś… Protect meaningful learning time to fully implement the 16 Strategies to achieve our four Goals outlined in our District Strategic Plan: Ignite the Path

âś… Strengthen literacy and numeracy outcomes

âś… Support recruitment and retention of high-quality educators

As we move to a four-day week, strong attendance will be more important than ever for staff and students. Each instructional day will be focused and impactful, and being present every day will be critical to student success.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our Calendar Committee for their hard work, innovation, and thoughtful problem-solving throughout this process.

Together, we are building a strong future for PVSD students!

Our Pablo Roybal Elementary School first grade teachers and their students have ROCKED their reading challenge using Just Right Reader! The first graders have collectively read over 200 books since the beginning of winter break! This supports Goal 1 for reading proficiency in our Ignite the Path Strategic Plan! Let's keep up the momentum!

Our PVHS construction trades CTE educator, Randy Martinez, and his students, have made such great progress in creating a small living space! They are finalizing the roof, insulation, paint, and electrical details, and added tv, phone and internet cables. This is purpose-driven education in action!

Thank you to our Pojoaque Education Foundation and our Board President, Susan Quintana, for hosting and facilitating our annual Alumni Career Fair! Our students were able to ask questions and see themselves in those alumni who walked in their shoes at one point in time. This is a full circle educational experience and we are grateful for the time that all alumni shared your inspire our students!

Congratulations to Sophia and Amelia Rose from Ms. April's class!🤩

"I am excited to share that two of my students won 2nd and 3rd place in the Acequia Association of New Mexico Art Contest. The theme was, "Show us what acequia culture means to YOU!"

As part of our 4th-grade New Mexico Social Studies and NGSS/NM (cross-curricular) standards, we explored and modeled many New Mexico landforms and water sources. The timing of the contest was perfect, and some of my students were excited to share their connection to what we were learning!

"Their images were displayed alongside all entries at the NM State Capitol during Treaty and Acequia Day, February 2, 2026."

I'm very proud of their insight into our culture and the importance of our water sources in New Mexico and what it all means to our communities and farmers!" -- April Grant-Torrez, 4th Grade Teacher
