"I am excited to share that two of my students won 2nd and 3rd place in the Acequia Association of New Mexico Art Contest. The theme was, "Show us what acequia culture means to YOU!"
As part of our 4th-grade New Mexico Social Studies and NGSS/NM (cross-curricular) standards, we explored and modeled many New Mexico landforms and water sources. The timing of the contest was perfect, and some of my students were excited to share their connection to what we were learning!
"Their images were displayed alongside all entries at the NM State Capitol during Treaty and Acequia Day, February 2, 2026."
I'm very proud of their insight into our culture and the importance of our water sources in New Mexico and what it all means to our communities and farmers!" -- April Grant-Torrez, 4th Grade Teacher

🚍 Ride the bus to AND from school!
All student riders are officially counted on this day, and these numbers help determine state transportation funding for routes, fuel, maintenance, and safety.
👉 More riders = more support for our Transportation Department!
🪪 Bus Pass Reminder:
Students must scan their bus pass when riding. Need a new or replacement pass? Please contact the front office as soon as possible.
💙 How families can help:
✔ Ride the bus to school
✔ Ride the bus home
✔ Encourage friends to join
Thank you for supporting our bus drivers and transportation team! 🚌✨

Thank you for the guidance, support, and care you give our students every single day. Your impact goes far beyond the office door, and we’re so grateful for all you do!

As temperatures are expected to drop significantly this week, we kindly ask families to ensure students come to school dressed in appropriate winter-weather clothing, including warm coats, hats, and gloves.
Even when roads are clear, cold temperatures can pose safety concerns during arrival, dismissal, and outdoor activities. We ask that schools create indoor activities for students during recess times to keep them inside due to low temperatures. We also ask families to wait with their students at bus stops until the bus arrives to help keep them warm during the morning commute.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and comfortable during the colder weather. We appreciate your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
PVSD Leadership
